Hands-Free, It's the Law!
In November of 2011 a final ruling was made by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regarding cell phone use by commercial truck and bus drivers. Those who operate commercial trucks and buses are no longer be permitted to use a hand-held mobile telephone while operating their vehicles on the nation’s roadways.
The hand-held cell phone ban for CDL drivers is effective January 2, 2012. Offenders face serious disciplinary actions including stiff fines for the driver and their employer, traffic violations and several accrued infractions can lead to a commercial driving license being revoked.
